Hi all...I'm thinking of buying my first Rolex sports for everyday wear and looking for some advice. I have only tried on the new ceramic sea-dweller 4000, a new ceramic GMT master II and a new polar explorer (the smaller version 16570 that is out of production) not the new larger version which is too large for me. I found that the sea-dweller and the polar fitted best - the new GMT case was too large. I think it has the same case as the new sub?....so....in general... New or used...(eg a brand new polar they don't make any more!) New version of sd4000 or second hand or older version Are old versions of subs smaller than the new ones (same as old polar explorer)? Any guidance greatly appreciated. Many thanks
The first version with white gold surround has the text oyster perpetual and the next version sates oyster perpetual date. This is situated at the top of the dial. Just a unique aspect of this early model.
If you want an everyday wearer and like the robustness of the SD 4000, I'd like to offer another suggestion.

Namely, the prior generation Sea Dweller (Reference 16600). This is a modern, useable watch, which was Rolex's top of the line diver when it was made. You'll find the current pricing now surprisingly friendly. Plus, I think it has a bit more charm that the ceramic Sea Dweller, but still a modern, useable watch. Good luck. Enjoy the hunt.
