Rolex

Hello all,

I'm looking for some advice in trading in my wedding watch for a divorce watch...

I have a JLC Grande Sun Moon in stainless that I purchased as my wedding watch that I now want to trade in for a divorce watch.  I’ve had my eye out for the Daytona TT with champagne dial (116523) for a while, and then the ceramic Daytona with white dial came out (116500LN), which I also love.  I have a Zenith Rainbow Flyback with color dial, and a 1964 Rolex Precision manual wind to toss into the trade mix.  So my question is do I go after the new ceramic Daytona, the newest style Daytona TT with radial numbering on the bezel (116503), the older style Daytona TT 116523 (used), or the new Tudor Bronze and apply the difference to pay off lawyers?  (I'm can't stop drooling about this watch either.)  I also have a Rolex GMT Master 2C and a Rolex anniversary sub in my collection, so I am looking for some variety.

You already have Rolexes. Take a look at the Montblanc 1858 Chronograph. You might be surprised at how nice it is a piece.

It gives you a bit of variation in the collection, although I'm a huge fan of my Daytona, my Cartier has been lucky for me *knock on wood* and considering you just got a divorce you need a bit of luck on your side. Love my two-tone and highly recomended.

It is a no brainer choice, you can't go wrong (if it's your thing) and if you ever need to sell it you'll get a good deal. I think it would be a fitting divorce watch because it's a very safe choice. You'll have certainty in enjoying and relinquishing if need be. Best of luck of mate, I must say it's good to soo you're staying focused on what matters in these difficult times. Watches! They're always there for us.

Thank you for the replies. At this point, I'm sticking with Rolex. As an engineer by training and in practice, I've come to appreciate the design and execution principles of Rolex. I also appreciate their durability, especially with young, destructive boys. My Omega PO (600m) was dropped on a tile floor from four feet up and it died; the same happened to my GMT-M2C (100m) and it didn't miss a beat. My JLC needed service and it was a nine month nightmare. So, I'm sticking with Rolex for engineering, durability, service, and maintaining its value.
I can rationalize trading in my Zenith Rainbow Flyback, as it's movement was the basis for earlier Daytona's, and I need/want only one chronograph. If the new ceramic Daytona is available, I suppose it would be hard to resist...

The new Daytona seem to have wait lists but should be worth the wait.
