I had the opportunity to play with one a while back. Not sure it is the same ref, but it had a Zenith movement.
It is clearly a 16520. I really love this black dialed version. Still; my preference goes for the white, but I well see myself getting the black, too. [nt]

Yep. I had the 116520 black dial, too. But I swapped for the 16520.
In fact, I first owned a 16520 white, then swapped for the 116520 black, and swapped again for the 16520 white. With the idea to also get a black dialed 16520.

I treated it to an overhaul at Rolex Hong Kong. Full set white dial from 1996. Wish I could go back in time and buy more at the 3120 GBP sticker price on its box.

Very harmonious dial, thinner indexes and hands; dark grayish sub-dials with the inscription of Daytona in red. I couldn't agree more.
Black circles surrounding the sub dials is the detail which I much prefer to the grey ish 116520 white. Thanks, Hugo. [nt]
