Rolex

So Rolex will presumably update the submariner with the new movement this year. Let’s say that does happen. How long is the waiting list going to be? I find myself not excited anymore for upcoming Rolex models as they are unatainable and have year long waits. Anyone else feel the same?

Rolex is obviously King, but their production and release strategy is annoying. Two years later stainless steel Daytona’s going for $17-20k in the aftermarket - insanity!

Not a fan of this artificial scarcity. Miss the good old days when we could go to the shop, look at various models and make a purchase.

Anyways, luckily I have no craving for the HOT models such as ceramic daytona, rolesor sky-d, red sea dweller etc. So, it doesn't affect me.

On the bright side, however, this situation keeps the second hand value strong.

I've really wanted the Black 116500 to compliment my White 116520 but the insane markups turned me cold. So, I'm in no hurry and continue to purchase other watches that are more attainable. 

Good and bad for the resale and waiting list respectively but if you are brand loyal and good with your AD, that's the reward from Rolex to you.

The false scarcity and increasing prices will ultimately hit their fan base and make the hobby out of reach for many but things will be what they will be

I hope for yet more discontinuation but there is nothing else the brand could do to get me to buy another. I’ll no doubt log on and faux drool over a few pieces at the fair but I’m as done as done can be. Time for the next generation

I hoped to get the new Daytona and that never happened! I then wanted to new seadweller with red text and that never happened! So now since there are no steel models available and as far as I can tell are no longer on their website. Only the two tones show up for both the Daytona and the sub. I sit and wait for a new sub announcement! Not sure what the strategy will be but I will never pay above MSRP for a modern Rolex

An updated Submariner no date with the 3235 movement and a domed saphire crystal. That would tick most of my boxes for a modern daily.

I will be buying it. I sold both my sub c and he hulk a while back and really want the updated movement. The one thing I don’t want to do is be on a 55 year waiting list!!!

I assume they will have them ready to ship fairly quick. I don’t see how Rolex can go first qaurter without shipping steel subs to AD’s

Rolex comes out with new models but nobody can get them. I  have tried for a white dial ceramic Daytona for two and a half years years but to no avail. But they are on the secondary market at big markups. it make me wonder why even look at them at Basel. I will never ever be able to buy their watches at retail.
