Rolex

Little to nothing is written about these early Rolex Prince models, but when I saw this one being offered, I knew it was a special watch.  The case engraving, the pristine Art Deco dial, the fixed lugs, all of it formed a gorgeous, albeit enigmatic, watch.

So tihs one's the original!?

Like, you I am very taken with these watches. Just found a nice example of a Prince Brancard ( with inlaid white-gold stripes no less). They really are excellent watches. Congratulations!



For a 93 year old watch, this keeps really good time!

I love the stripes

Princes came in all shoes and sizes with a multitude of dial and movement variations
This is a lovely straight sided piece - love the side engraving which make it stand out from the plain straight sided models
As you say , some dials did not have any writing on them at all - the was not common
Most had Rolex Prince either printed or in enamel
Movements varied between plain the chronometer
Cases were made in ( kt 14 kt ( Eaton case in Canada ) 18kt ,silver plat and stainless steel
I did write a detailed article about these watches which is somewhere in the archives

I'm going to look up your article. I am really taken by these watches, and would love to track down a stainless steel one in the future. Kind of crazy that in the 1990s, these pieces were selling for 4x more than now.
