always had a soft spot for this reference.... the original version is a killer even though they did a decent job renewing it later. I think this will find a solid place in the catalogue of great releases in the future despite having been semi unloved in its early years
In total agreement. The funny ( or curious ) thing is that, when it was released, it was a super hot piece. This status has faded some two or three years after, though.

and since Rolex has released several non black dial sports watches providing tons of choice? I for one was tempted by this YM but never got myself into getting one for several reasons... but then ended up getting a meteorite GMT many many years later... i think this GMT has a resemblance in character to the YM
Good points on the comparison with the GMT MASTER Meteorite. Another watch I would love to own one day.
Our Beloved Leader is right, of course. Here's a borrowed (source in image) photograph of the 16622 and 116622 side by side. I prefer the former for its slimmer lugs, but like them both a lot. In the flesh, the platinum dial is remarkable.
Jocke's famous series of photographs of the 16622, which persuaded me to buy one, is probably the best. Here's one of the dial. On the wrist, especially in the sun, it changes colour fascinatingly.

This is definitely a watch that initially flew under my radar but is definitely growing on me. I like the use of the red second hand and lettering too, which I think really compliments the dial.
This is a watch I love so much. It has several details which makes it so special: the "overall gray" looks to begin with and the red touches of inscriptions and seconds hand for example. But the...
... detail I love most is the incredible frosted surface of its dial. It makes for the awesomeness of this watch. I got the 16622 as well. A strong favorite!
Love your shot as well as an old wrist shot of yours which shows it with a red shirt in my memory doesn´t fail. That shot made me hunt for mine several years ago.
