Another pictorial series of Rolex Sea Dweller 1665.

Not a double red, which is my absolute favorite when it comes to the Sea Dweller, but a nice one, with some great patina on the indices.

Ok, the plexy is a bit scratched and the second hand misses some tritium, but nothing which cannot be solved, here.

Best,

Nicolas

I know sapphire can shatter…

…but unless you’re a diamond broker, how does it scratch?

Shark's teeth? ;)

No sapphire here, just plexi - which scratches more easily of course.

Of course you are right. I was on to post a 16660, and finally I decided to post this 1665. Sorry for the mess!

So I’m not crazy?

…my wife would disagree…

No you aren't. ;)

Looks wonderful- a real Rolex!

Thanks for looking, I.

I find the sub so much more appealing with the patina on the dial versus a brand new version!

Patina’s cool for sure,

 By: RabidManatee : November 18th, 2022-00:18
but I really like the brushed lugs and more modest dimensions of the vintage models vs. the new versions. The vintage package looks less “blocky” (dare I say svelte), both in terms of the case and the dial.
I like some of the new models but there’s something “just right” about these older versions.
Cheers!

Good point about the dimension as well!

Absolutely correct, both of you. Patina, soul, charm, beauty, and yes, the proportions are much more my taste. My dream would be to get a 1666 and a Deep Sea James Cameron to my 16660.

With these three, it would be a journey into Sea Dweller time.

That would make a spectacular trio for sure!

I don't desperate. ;)

Yes!

One of my priorities for 2023 if all goes well.

 By: amanico : November 18th, 2022-22:26

Sounds good. Best of luck to you!!

I have some things I’d like to pick up in 2023 (not just watches), we’ll have to see what wins out.

Same for me. I hope to be able to end my series of improvements on my Alpine, too.

 By: amanico : November 18th, 2022-22:54

Ah yes, I look forward to seeing them and reading your impressions.

I also have some automotive aspirations.

I will post my next step in early January. After this, I will have 4 or 5 things to do and the Alpine will be fine. ;)

Fantastique!

 By: RabidManatee : November 18th, 2022-22:58

It is a long way... I spent two years and wil probably spend another year to make it as perfect as possible...

 By: amanico : November 18th, 2022-22:59

Now that is a lot of passion and dedication! Respect my friend!

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : November 18th, 2022-23:03

Yes, but it is really worth it. Someone working with Alpine was mesmerized by the outcome and I still have some work to do... ;)

 By: amanico : November 18th, 2022-23:08

Maybe you should be a special consultant for their F1 team! They sure could use it!

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : November 18th, 2022-23:16

I took some ideas from their racing cars ( Cup, Rallye, GT4 ). And got some ideas elsewhere... Funny game. ;)

 By: amanico : November 18th, 2022-23:18

Wow you are really going all in on this one! So cool!

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : November 18th, 2022-22:59

At this rate there will be an Amanico version of the Alpine!

 By: RabidManatee : November 18th, 2022-23:01
Which will hopefully be easier to obtain than a new Rolex or Patek…

That's it. Not sure it is easier than getting a new Rolex, though... :))))
