SD43 or not to SD43, that is the question 🤔
I have my Submariner no date which I decided to keep after nearly moving it on as part of my consolidation efforts. However, with the recent string of Sea Dweller posts, even though not SD43, I was curious how long a wait at my AD would be. So, I asked but didn’t expect that he has one that someone else just passed on, and has next person waiting if I don’t want. As such, I’m curious what opinions are out there about having both the Sub ND and SD43. They are much more similar than the previous Sea Dweller, so my concern is that it wouldn’t get much wrist time, or maybe the Sub will suffer that fate. Importantly, I don’t want to just get it for the sake of it…especially with that money being valuable for other reasons.
I’m inclined to pass now, but I know the question will come up again at a later time.

The Rolex market seems to have softened, so if you can get a SD43 now you should reasonably be able to in the future.
The no-date Sub is obviously a classic (which wasn’t always the case), so definitely hold on to that one.
Your impression of the market is what I was thinking too.
And your point about the Sub reinforces my feeling about that too. As I get older, I am appreciating the thinner and smaller diameter pieces very much. So, as cool as the SD43 may be, I’m on the fence now about such an imposing piece. Thank you for your thoughts on this.🙏🏽
If you’re on the fence, don’t. I have the 43 and am lucky enough that it sits comfortably on my wrist..
I tried one on from a gray dealer before I got it from the AD 
Having said that, even if it is comfortable on my 6.75 - 7 inch wrist, the thickness can be an issue. The OC in me gets paranoid about banging the thing. But there are periods, like this week, when I’ve been wearing it a lot. Depends on my mood. Sometimes, I just want something substantial on my wrist.
But most days, like yourself, I’m better served with a thinner cased watch.
Keep the sub. Try the 43 from a friend or a gray dealer. It’s not a hype piece so it’s something that can be reasonably hunted in the future whether via an AD or gray.

The size and the character are not the same, betwee, these two. They are complementary. ONLY if you like each of them enough.
If you are strongly in love with the SD43, then go! You'll see if it kills the Sub no date or not. In the worse case, you will sell one of these two.
