the Rolex myth seems to be more associated with the Submariner, GMT Master and Daytona, but what about the Explorer ?

You're right when you say that when people think Rolex they Think Dayto or Sub...
These Explo have some great stories from Sir Hillary who deceased recently and the Hymalaia summit, and some explorations in the North Pole...This watch is full of nice stories...
And they have a strong and nice look too...

a 5504 Explorer with a "chronometer" dial ?
What is the cal. of this watch ?
Isn't 1959 too early for a "Superlative" on the dial ?
