Rolex

Hello:
I have been a Rolex devotee for over 30 yrs.  My three 7-30 year old Rolex watches (all different models) have been faithful in their performance and it is for that reason that two weeks ago I purchased a brand new Everose Presidential Day-Date.  What a costly disappointment!  Right out of the box, although the watch kept accurate time (as accurate as a Rolex can be) its power or wind reserve proved to be a problem.  I had been told by Rolex New York that the watch should provide in the range of a 40 hr power reserve with a full wind but the best that I could get was 11hrs.  So, back to New York it went and I am still waiting for its return.  I must add that I was reluctant to send a brand new watch back to Rolex NY since the last gold watch I sent them for cleaning returned with a gnarled case.
In all, I am very disappointed and am prepared for the worst and if such occurs, I will endeavor to sell this brand new watch, never to return to the Rolex fold. 
I hope that this is an isolated incident and that all of you other owners have not been in a similar place bit I fear, however, that quality control has taken its toll and that it is a sign of the times.  As an example, I offer the explanation given by one of the NY technicians prior to sending my watch back to them: "... the watch has over 300 parts, it's possible to miss some adjustment ..."  GREAT, but isn't that what quality control is all about???

Itsa sign of the times indeed. Poor QC and poor CS. The tech should not have said this, but hey, look, these are the "could giva damn kids!"

I have heard similar stories about every watch brand, even Rolex which is the most reliable IMHO.

I hope they will fix your watch soon and you will be able to enjoy it at last.

I guess that lack of quality control abounds in all aspects of product life ... things just aren't what they used to be.  In addition, I agree that today's youth could care less about "pride in productivity," but the world's population in general seems only interested in moving product, collecting what they think is due them and then moving on.  It is a real shame but at least some of us have memories of a time when a producer cared about the quality of his product, whatever it may have been.
As for my watch, well, only time will tell.

record of all communications with the servicenter. Document if possible. You may even want to scrutinize the timepiece in their presence upon completion. There's a lot of unecessary case "gouging" and leaving lint "particulate" on the inside of the dial. If unable to do so, then record its return with photography.

When was this magical time?

Similar story went to an AD to buy a WG 116509 Daytona and the seconds had fell off. AD was very embarrased.

Went to another AD to pick-up the watch.

I too have been a Rolex addict for a very, very  long time and while I still enjoy my Yellow gold Daytona and I gave my President day date to my son recently...I did so because I bought a Breguet 5817 Marine in yellow gold.

This watch has some quality....no body knows what it is....the accuracy is within seconds per month....the look is classic, elegant and sporty all in one...believe me, and the winder / crown  is like silk to use...but most importantly, if I go different  for the weekend and wear something else, when I come home and take it out of the vault...it's 65 hour power reserve still has it ticking away.

But....I am sure your Rolex will come back OK....

I would consider myself fortunate if such a hiccup is the only issue I've had with a manufacturer after years of ownership of the same brand. What was told to you by the RSC is laughable though. Be patient with them, they'll eventually get it right.
