buying second hand Daytona from the internet
I'm about to buy a pre owned Daytona from the posting here in watchprosite marketplace. Any one care to share some experience on how to authenticate the watch and get more reference of the seller. Can i even post a reference check here so past buyer can comment on this private seller...dd (or Darren?)
Wire transfer and money back guarantee do not seem to protect the buyer very well IMHO.
Any thought is appreciated.

Hi Joe,
There are never any guarrentees purchasing a preowned watch.
It is also extremely challenging to authenticate any watch, especially a Rolex (even more so vintage models), based on supplied photos.
We would love to think that our collectors marketplace is a safe haven but it is not so . There have been fellow PuristS scammed out of their hard earned money.
Please do in depth research on the seller and product before proceeding with any transaction. We (the moderator staff) do not want the forums to be filled with multiple requests for reference checks...there are other websites with dedicated forums for this (their database is also several years old). Also please make sure you read the Marketplace guidelines too, This is a private transaction between you and the seller.
Perhaps the safest way is to spend the premium and purchase from a brick and mortar or a trustworthy second hand shop (lessons learned from personal experience)
