For all the Chocolate, Brown, patined dials, here is a marvel I couldn't resist to share with you, a 1016 Explorer I from 1964.

You will notice that the right part of the dial is lighter than the left part.

Personally, I love a lot!









The patined indexes are just the cherry on the cake, indeed.

This is really the kind of watches which makes you catch the Vintage Bug.

If I wasn't targetting a no crownguard Sub, I would jump on it.

I think I know the watch, it was proposed to me early this year by a dealer in Marseille.

I found it nice but expensive.

I would like to get a 6538, for the unbelievable strength of its biga case and crown.

But all those I see comes with a mat service dial, and those which comes with a laquered gilt dial are way too pricey.

So, what to do?

Getting a 6538 service dial, OR going on a 6536 / 5508 with the original gilt dial, for muuuuuch less than a 6538?

I think I will take the second option....

Will know that soon, as I locked a possible target...

Nothing is beat a big crown.

 Find one with a gilt service dial, or go for the Tudor  Big Crown ( the are more Rare than  the 6538).

Ever time you poet it on your wrist, you have the feeling that you are 007;-)

These Big crowns have an unbelievable look.

I saw the 6538 and the 5508, I had the opportunity to put them side by side, and frankly, if I could, I would go for the 6538.

The only problem is that if you want a 6538 with a gilt original dial, you have to sell your kidneys to get one.

If you consider a matt dial, it is .... " cheaper ", but in this case, my former question has soem sense:

Isn't it preferrable to get a much more affordable5508 with an original radium dial, rather than à much more expensive 6538 with a service matt dial?

Damn, we have such delicious dilemmas!
