Hi folks ,
I never wrote here on the Rolex forum before, for some reasons I never improved my basic knowledge on Rolex history and current/recent collections. But here what happened in the last few days.....
I am looking for the ultimate travelling summer companion and after pondering and pondering and listening to friends advices and most of all to my heart,I decided:I surrender to Rolex finally.
I am looking for a reliable, robust, solid, waterproof friend, the one that never lets you down, you can swim with, take a shower with, jump off the cliff, move luggage...the one that you don t acknowledge for a little bit but you know its there for you should you need it.
Has to be new(no need for a fancy vintage ref,too delicate and precious maybe?).and needs to turn into a smart sidekick in case you put a fresh shirt and hit town after holiday activities...so it can well be a limited production(if it applies to Rolex)like green bezel Sub,or green glass Milgauss to add a little more Purist touch to it....
Here is my shortlist:1)Milgauss(maybe green, but love the white too)2)GMT II 3)Sub......but I am open to suggestions/opinions...
Just wanted to share my thoughts with you and maybe get feedback.......Can t wait to hear your comments...
Yours,Mo
A lot of friends are pushing me towards the GMTII with ceramic bezel,I must say that it s very appealing.........
Yellow gold Sub?!?!?!Thats a killer on the beach for sure!Definetely an eye catcher, envy of every boy, magnet for every girl...Ha ha,Why not?
Mo
first because your opinion is important to me,secondly after such a heartfelt advice I HAVE to try to catch the bug.....
Thank you Bill, its gonna be all your fault if it happens......
I know how to use my next few days off....
Mo
then we will compare in the not distant future,,,,Christmas almost here.
I have a hot tip for your next summer over,I'll tell you all about it.
Can t wait to see you and family Bill.
Mo
I would first choose the GMT which can also be a superb travel watch, but which would fit the bill if you have to put a tuxedo for some special events ( Deeeelphine ).
The other which comes to mind is the YachtMaster with the platinum dial and bezel.
This one, you can also swim with, and even choose it for your more " dressy " events.
The Green Milgauss?
THAT is a watch which would be excellent for you:
It will echo to your artistic dimension, it is also a funny watch, between the psychedelic and the rasta, a cool watch in a few words.
You can't go wrong with any of them, try them on, and you'll see the light, Bro.
Best,
Nicolas

I was sure of this...there is a great danger here,to catch a relatevily vintage bug,to go James Bond, and to get a playful Milgauss..
I knew what the answer was gonna be......Consider all the options.....
PT steel YM is very very nice Nico, that is a very tempting option....wow...now that I look closely the green sub is also not bad....
I only ask for a little push, not for a kick......
Thank you Nico..we might be relatives soon......(Delphineeeeee).
Mo
I can give you an hand, not a kick ...
I have some good connections here, in Paris, so, if you have the opportunity ( and I know you will..
), we may hit 2 bords with the same stone.
Best, my friend.
Nicoias
PS: If you can be here in Paris on the 18th of September, I have a Party with someone I know you laready love.
I definetely will play...lets catch a good one.....unfortunately the 18 I will be away with all the book madness, but I will visit veeeery soon.....my poor heart!

I took my Submariner LV and SDDS for service in the beginning of the summer. However, I missed my every day sporting Rolex esso much that I wanted to buy a new one. So I bought Yacht Master. But then, visiting Tokyo I saw the ND Submariner, then from London I found a brand new Sea Dweller... And naturally, when visiting Greece, I found the already discontinued Sub as well as GMT-Master. And finally, a week ago, a retailer contacted me and told that they have the new Sub and gave me a good rebate. What to do... I bought it.
All of my new Rolexes have the same Triplock crown so I suspect that they are water tight to the depths a scuba diver or normal technical diver can go. So these watches correspond with your requirements.
I have been now looking and wearing these watches for some weeks or up to three months except the new Sub, I would comment them as follows:
- the best feeling on the wrist I have when I wear the ND Submariner.
- the nicest overall impression and feeling of elegance and quality comes from Yacht Master. However, in certain conditions it is difficult to read.
. when flying to different countries, nothing beats the GMT-Master
. the new green Submariner is very very interesting. However, I do not yet know if I hate it or love it. But one thing is sure: the bracelet is really a fantastic one.
I started to buy these new watches because I have decided not to buy vintage. My intention was to "wash out" my dream of a vintage Submariner by getting some new Rolexes. But the opposite happened: I would still love to have a non-date vintage Submariner with plexi glass and I dream about that every day. So my recomendation is that start i.e. from a nice 5513.
Best regards, Kari
From 0 to 6 faster than a Lambo!
Impressive, my friend.
Best,
Nicolas.
I still have 2 rolexes in Paris which I have to pick up soon.
However, I must admit that it would have been much cheaper just to change the strategy and go for a nice vintage piece as you recommended during our last meeting.
At the same time, if i would buy the new Submariner with black dial, I would have all "modern" simple SS sporting watches with Triplock crown and if I would buy a SS Daytona in addition to that... Uh, I think I rather:
a. start to collect empty beer bottles - that is much cheaper or
b. just forget my "strategy" and go for the vintage Submariner I want to get.
Best, Kari
And a very healthy one if you don't dringk them before.
But I still think option B is something to think about.
Let's see that next time we meet!
Best, my friend.
Nicolas
I don't drink beer. So again I would have two options:
a. during dull nights collect the empty bottles from the streets. This would also mean some positive cash flows or
b. collect the bottles after your consumption.
I just wonder which alternative would give me a bigger collection.
Have a nice Friday! Kari
And I have the feeling Kari already knows / fears that.
Best,
Nicolas
this certainly didn t help.....WOW!Way to go sir,I must admit that a few times I was so taken by a group shot. The charm of the ever green rolex look repeated in a box is hard to beat.
YM is very appealing,a sub is a classic, and a GMTII is a must have.....
So.....?You are a bad influence but let the hunt begin.......
After all I will:Start looking for a vintage Sub(not too vintage but enough to have a certain charm)thanks Bill,2)try this Pt YM(it is winking at me)3)a third option could be the new GMT or Green Milgauss.
Everybody is happy!
Thank you all.....
Mo
we choose to run...............
Night Bill.

I've had my GMT for a while now and is prob the piece I wear the most to be honest for the reasons you said - rugged, waterproof, practical etc etc. In fact it is being 'pimped' soon..!! As I have just got a Speedy Pro with black bezel I'm getting the black bezel on the GMT changed for a Pepsi one to give it a fresh look
Hope to see you soon with a new addition then..!!
Yours my friend,
Andy.
and by next week I-ll make my mind up....
Hope to see you soon.
Mo
