95% of my watches are black dial. Yet, over the last couple of months I have become more and more taken with the idea of a white dial Rolex. I think any collection needs variety and I can see that whilst most seem to prefer black dial, there is always some room for variety.
For me, I think what has grabbed me most is the 16550 cream dial. Stunning watch. Love it.
Happy to know that you're on the hunt for one, my friend.
An awesome and subtle watch.
Best,
Nicolas.
I have three vintage and one modern target for 2011. Modern target is the DSA US....hopefully in the bag
On vintage, the 16550 Cream, the 1680 metres first.
And then of course, the impossible grail.....the 5517 with full provenance.
hahahahahaha...i even hurt myself on this last one.

Yes...i mean the red 1680...full papers etc..... hard but not impossible....
the 16550...full and complete...hard but not impossible....
5517...perfect no-issues...... can certainly be done....just a price issue.
We have to have goals!!
And plans.
And luck.

These are my 2 white dialed Rolex, and love them a lot.
As for a White GMT... Hmmm, not sure. I see very well what you're referring about, I'm nt a expert, but I would stay away from these White 6542s.
A very controversial watch, to say the least.
Now, IF rolex decided to release a pair of 6542s, one white, the other blzck, in a decent size, I would certainly be in.
Best,
Nicolas.

I saw some dlearer ones, with strongly patined indexes.
Cool, too!
Best,
Nicolas.
A friend of my uncle who used to collect the early gmt master and the mid 60's gmt master told me that the white dialed ones were made for panam commercial pilots. I do remember when colored ad from the late 50's-early 60's with that watch being the official watch of the panam. I don't know if someone who has worked back in the days for panam can attest of this. But aside that I also know that Chuck Yeager wore a GMT Master too but that one was a black dialed one.
