As for every watch, you have to find YOUR watch... The one you know it is made for you, an instantaneous love.
It can take some time, but the satisfaction is here.
Best,
Nicolas.

I have several Vintage GMTs, but with the crownguards, pointed or not, gilt, or not, chapter ring or not.
The epitome of the Rolex GMT is, to me, the first one, this reference, the 6542.
Now, to find one which will sing to you is another problem, indeed.
I'm sure that one day, you'll say " Wow, that's mine ".
And that you'll share it with us!
Waiting for this moment...
Best,
Nicolas.
Here in Mexico there's a popular belief. It says that once you die, you have to cross a wild river.
If you were a good master to your dogs, they all will be waiting for you at the other side,
and if you get tired while swimming the stormy river, they all will come and help you out to the other side.
There you not only will meet your beloved ones (human) but also your beloved puppies!!!
I deeply believe it so, and I share it with you my friend.
By the way, Coffee and I are very sorry about Pepette.
And about your beautiful watch my friend...
It will be a reminder, NAME IT AFTER YOUR PEPETTE!
It will honor him (Sorry, I don't know if is he or she)
May you wear it in very good health.
René

It's based on prehispanic tradition.
When the death person goes on it's final travel to Chiconaumictlan (The longed place for the rest of the soul),
he (or she) has to cross Chiconahuapan (nine rivers or nine waters), the big river that surrounds the nine hells (To prehispanic mexicans, hell had not the same meaning that to us).
When the death person arrives to the edge of the river, he sees a lot of dogs at the other side, and...
if some of them recognizes him as his master, the dog then would help him to cross and make it safe to the other side.
Interesting, don't you think?
Best my friend!
René

Is in holidays and still didn't hear about Oum's death.
Best,
Nicolas.
Mine was an american cocker, white, black, with a few brown spots here and there.
Her name was Oum, Pepette is the name that Patrice gave her, but not her true name, just an affectuous nickname.
The last moments were full of tenderness, and she knew, understood that the end was near for her, better, she let me understood that I took the right decision.
The price to pay for her freedom and for the end of her pains.
I'm not really ready to welcome another dog, right now, and I believe, for a long time.
Not the best moment to welcome this watch I was hunting for a long time, sadly.
But hey, that's life, and we have to go on, with Oum in my mind.
Best, my friend, and thanks for your words which moved me a lot, as you can imagine it.
Nicolas, desperately on the other side vof the river.
He's like my very own son!
I dare to say that he's one of a few dogs that chose his master, not the other way, he he...
I'm glad to hear that Oum passed away surrounded by her family, giving her a loving goodbye.
That's the way all dogs should go, I think.
She'll be fine, you'll se.
And you too my friend. The river can wait a little more...
Best.
René

Before Coffee, I didn't wanted another dog, but he came up and chose me. And he has been quite a gift to me!
No watch, not even a grail watch can give us the happiness and feelings our loved furry ones give to us (and I mean it).
Of course our loved ones even more!
They come to enlighten our lives, and when their time to go comes,
we must be thankful for all the great moments they gave us!
For being part of our family.
Thank's for letting me share my feelings about this.
Next time you adopt a puppy, treat it well in Oum's memory.
Give it a good life.
Be well my friend.
Best regards.
René
I have some little ideas fo the amount of work this watch asked you. It deserved it.
Frantically speaking I was not impressed by your first 6542 , far from your amazing cornino imho.
It reminds me of my first cornino , sexy, very nice dial (slghtly marbled marroon) but too much polishing, new hands, and a later caseback made it a bit bitter. The cornino I have actually makes me completely happy. It is my grail and it is reached.
And here it is for your 6542, a fabulous dial with different patinas which is even overkill, a beautiful case with bracelet and papers
STUNNING!
For your endless love of the GMT, for all you shared on this mythic watch, for all the work done and the long way you went till this one, let me congratulate you from the deep of my GMT lover heart.
Cheers
Francois
For this 6542, Francois.
This is the beauty of our passion: If you really want something great, you have to spend time, to pay efforts, to be patient, and to have a bit of luck.
Then comes the time of the satisfaction and pleasure. Something that money can't buy, because it is much more than a watch or money.
It is the reflect of your resarches, of the time you invested in this hunt.
It is also somewhat a kind of Alchimy, something which happens between you and the watch.
Thanks for your nice words, Francois.
Best,
Nicolas.

Terrific this brown cornino ! It was far away being revised and it hurt my poor brain.
You would have been right if had done it
The day I recovered it, I was thinking "What am I doing now?" (you saw me that day
) . The day after this stupid thought was over
cheers
Francois
