Rolex

Many things have already been said, here my first impressions

 

I always loved the Explorer II, as stated earlier I am frustrated since the Model 1655, mainly because of the tiny winding crown. So, I insisted wanting to give a try to this one.

 

I am happily surprised and convinced.

In general this new last version watch is superb. It does not have the warmth of the vintage version 1655, nor the elegance of the 16550 cream dial, but this one I know I can wear.   I like the watchcase size, its configuration (bezel, dial and its proportions (including the winding crown), to me it is well balanced.  If I had to change something it would probably be a slightly thinner hour and minutes hand, the rest… well it is my a perfect travelling companion.

 

Now here is a surprise, (black dial version), if you actually have the watch facing the sun, you will notice that it is not black, I can see a very deep brown or a grey with brown, definitely not black.

 

I will write more after a few days.

Notwhithstanding what others might think, I consider that Rolex did a great job.

My personal preference was for the white dial, but black dial also lovely. Have had mine just under two weeks now and really enjoying it. Looking forward to your impressions when you have enjoyed yours for a few days.

Another Rolex you're happy with, my friend.

But maybe I am more interested by Vintage Rolexes.

I like some modern Rolexes a lot: The Green Milgauss, the Yachtmaster ( my fav! ), the GMT. But this one, no, not for me.

I don't feel the design is harmonious, like on the former models.

Still, it is a high quality watch, as every other Rolex.

i read as many for as there are against this one! just goes show you how many paradigms exsist out there, its a good job Rolex make so many different models,  personally i have enjoyed mine for the last 2 months and growing stronger all the time as long as you enjoy it thats all that matters

When I pick a watch it is because I like it or badly need it, in either case so long it pleases me, with respect, it does not matter to me if my choice is unpopular.  What matters is my enjoyment and pleasure, and this is essential. It is however good to stay open, hearing what others think and discuss about it, usually it makes the +'s more and sometime the -'s less. But I am stubborn, I know I am right

But I will stay stuck to my former ( and Vintage ) Explos.

Will love it too, I also know you are not stubborn, and I know you will learn to have deep sentiments for this piece if you give it a chance on your wrist.
