A good friend of mine offered me a brown sub insert he found in a box of Rolex parts. knowing that it is broken, would you install it in the place of the grey one. Thanks.

Thanks René, The problem with this hunt is the price of a brown insert in good condition. Not far away from a 1000 USD. So I'm not sure to go for it.

Now that vintage rolex prices have raised so much,

but you never know when a cheap and original one can surge,

in the meantime, enjoy this one very much,

and if I find a nice brown vintage insert not as pricey over here, I promise I'll let you know

My own 1680, which has been with me since new, in 1977, shows its original bezel in grey, with a small hole between 14 and 15 minutes, but I refused to change it.
I very much like these discolored bezels. They give a lot of character to the watch.
May be you can adopt it, till a better gray one arrives.

Did I ever said here, that I have a love affair with Rolex and specially for Subs, for almost 50 years now?
That´s a lot of time indeed!  And it makes me feel a bit old, everytime I think about it!

Of course I know GMT´s since long ago.

But the incredible pleasure of having it on my wrist, was a fairly recent discovery.

So similar in shape contours to the Sub, yet so different in feeling. A Great watch!
