For some strange reason, I have always loved the Rolex Day-Date, though it is not as collectible as any Rolex sports watch.
It is the most practical watch for daily wear, since it shows the date and the also, the day in full. The whole watch comes in a big chunk of solid gold or platinum. Indeed, it is a very attractive watch, looking at it, from any angle.
If I had the money, I would rather buy 12 used Rolex Day-Date than 1 Double Red Sea-Dweller that comes in a solid chunk of steel.
In the event of an emergency (we do not know, when) and if I need some money urgently, any day of the week, I can always pledge my Rolex Day-Date, for its approximate gold value, at any pawn-shop. Will a pawn-shop operator, most likely a non-collector of vintage-watches, lend someone $2 000.00 against a DRSD that is worth $30 000.00 or so, let's say?
