Project X Design Rolex
Just doing my due diligence on this customizer of new Rolex's. I am quite smitten with their interpretation of the SS Submariner Ceramic Date (their so-called Stealth III). I've been collecting for a long time and I already adhere to the buy what sings to you philosophy that is not my question. Does anybody know anything about the quality of their customization ... is it the real deal. I have to say as someone who would love to buy vintage but is very squeamish about the pedigree of vintage pieces I like the idea of taking a BNIB Rolex and giving it a "modern" vintage feel. What's the opinion on these watches and in particular the Stealth III. Thanks for the input.

Well, i keep it quiet....
its like a gimp in the dungeon....
On a forum of Purists, this pimped version gets some scorn. But, hell, I don't care. This gets plenty of wrist-time and I will often wear it when just messing around in the garden or when it just doesn't matter if it gets wet etc.
Maxi dial with SD date window, double red, they pimped the dot on bezel,
originally a Sub right?
What have you done!
What white second hand some more. I never knew this side of you. Was it the darth force of the DRSD?

I wouldn't but would have no problem taking the Gimp.

...yes the DRSD would be buried together with this watch nut.

I think that looks very good.....
...I think you've specified a nice watch - pleasing to the eye, in touch with some of ther vintage qualities (no crow guards & the red dial highlights), and all together a very wearable 'do anything in it' watch.
And I really like the fact it doesn't have the cyclops lens for the date.
I like it. Nice.

I don't believe we can comment on particular sellers/dealers, which is what Project X is in effect, so to adhere to forum rules I would only comment that Rolex will not recognise these watches if they are taken in for servicing etc.That said, there have been threads/comments on this topic on this forum. Here is one from last year:

I own 2 custom watches. The proprietor is temperamental but his quality exceeds his other London competitors by leaps and bounds. The finish is simply excellent
Not sure what "temperamental" means...
...but as long as the quality is excellent....LOL !!!
