Hello!

This is my first post here attaching some pics, and it is an special occasion because I have just got an Explorer I ref 1016, gilt,  s/n 1.5M. As shown in the pics, (I am not very good with my camera) the dial it is half sunburst and the other half black, which makes a rare and a beautiful combination.  It comes with its original 7206 oyster riveted bracelet stamped 1 68

As promised, Abel, here I go with this new (to me) catch. I will be posting some of my small collection during the next days. Sharing this passion it is a nice part of this never ending hobby and obsession!

I must also confess a soft spot with classic gilt black deep and glossy dials( Did i miss something in the enumeration, here? )

Hence my queston: Will you add a deep black glossy dial to this one? I mean another one?

Dear Baron- I like your 6610 Explorer! Could it also be that versions existed with the depth red printing further down the dial near the bottom instead of on top?

I have never seen one and I hae asked a wide variety of people who have experience going back several decades and not one of them has seen such an example. Never say never, but it looks like it never existed. If it did, it was in VERY low numbers.

I ask because xxx is selling indeed such an example and I want to know if the dial is real or not. This message has been edited by amanico on 2013-04-19 07:40:30

for your nice comments. I understand what you mean because I had a similar process with the  Expoler I some years ago. I was a fan of Subs (especially 5513 & 5512) and GMT´s,  but finally, and definitely,  I fell in love with the 1016. It is a unique and iconic Rolex model. Don´t miss it! It is a perfect combination of sport, classy and elegant model.
