I came across an interesting double stamp Rolex as i surfed teh web last night. Apparently in 2007 there was a small number of Rolex 16610 Submariners commissioned by the Gendarmarie Nationale for its Groupe Securite Presidence Republique. Its a fairly intricate symbol comrisong a tri color delta, parachute, etc. I was wondering if anyone was familiar with this particlaur watch. It follows along teh same line as teh Sea Dweller Sommazzatori and the fabled Comex. Obviusly i have been educating myself in double stamp sport watches and have been very interested in Comexes but had never heard of thus until last night. Thanks for looking and for any information anyone has.
crest on the dial printed by Rolex and back-engravings made by the Rolex AD who did the order . certainly rare but not so much story behind ( like the Italian PS " polipetto " by the way .. )
the Polipetto was a completely " selfdelivered " watch as : 1) some Italian divers of the PS ( state police ) asked to the Italian Home Office the permission to use the official divers' crest on a watch : 2) they asked to a Rolex AD to produce watches ( roughly 86 ) with the crest 3) then the Rolex AD made the back engravings. most of them have never seen any kind of water .................................................................... on the contrary Comex and Milsubs ................................................................................................................
( " climbing an hill at the Falklands on ropes in 1982... the guy above me during the climb throw his 5517 down as he destroyed the back using the watch hammering nails ... so he turned to me and said < hey ! gimmie another one ! > )
( maybe it could have been also an Omega SM 300 W10 .... LLOOOLLL )
( not to mention what Comex watches have done ... it would be too easy baby !! )
