a blue DeepSea next week.

Interested to see what it will look like.  I have a feeling it will be a deep, navy blue, not the blue of the WG sub.  Should be neat to see.

Just what is that little thing above right from the P?  That is the question I think.  Some new kind of helium escape valve?  It appears like its protruding out of the case, almost as if it punctured the case from within?  Or is the photo under water (the blue reflection from the case) and that is gas bubbling out?  Or, perhaps they are announcing their involvement in nano technology?  I just can't seem to make out what that thing is?

in this shot it doesn't look like one, but there are others where there's 2 bubbles...

they are measuring how much hype they can generate by holding out like this.  online intelligence is being captured to gage the market.

but it's already " august 5th" in parts of the world?? so are they only talking about the "USA" ???  is it me or does that seem odd to anyone else?? I thought Rolex was a global company?? it's not like they are catering this to the US market?? what's become of Rolex?? surely they are not Panerai???

A few weeks ago, I said in a post in response to Baron that I love the Sea-Dweller and that in all of its iterations it is the perfect Rolex, IMHO, and that included the DSSD which I could at least admire for its technical accomplishments and pushing the limits of what a dive watch could do.

After seeing that picture, I would like to take back everything I said.

Glad I have a 1665 and 16600.  I don't think I will be buying a modern DSSD any time soon....

Just my 2 cents.

I like it...

I'm a Rolex fan but not a Rolex purist, and I have a long catalog of "Black Sheep" Rolex references on my list of favorites.

This is a big blue sports watch, and it's redolent of unpretentious fun. It isn't a poem in steel or a product of artisanal blood and sweat, but it's suggestive of innocent fun for the beach or pool party. Maybe it's a younger look, and I'm just the target customer... don't know.

If Stella dial Day-Dates (another of my loves) have evolved to become collectable and hip, there's room in the Rolex universe for the Deep(Blue)Sea.

I think I would need time but in some circumstances and from another point of view it is certainly a Rolex that is worth it.
