Rolex

I am lucky enough to still have my very first Rolex...a GMT 16710. Ironically, the last modern Rolex I bought was also a GMT...the 116710. A neat symmetry here...and essentially 10 years between the purchases. So often, we let our first Rolex go...I did....but as I said, I was lucky as I managed to buy it back!!

due to the arrival of a white dialed Nautilus which slowly became my daily beater (was meant to be the rol of the Milgauss). But I will try to make a vintage out of it in order to finally get some kudo's in this group ;-) This message has been edited by Arie on 2014-11-18 06:40:11

There are a lot of secrets up in the North!

My first is a lovely 6564 I've owned for 46 years and wonderful 16570 I've had for 4 years with it's leather strap for the winter!

....i bet there are not many guys here who have owned a watch for 46 years.

Mine is also a 16710 "Coke"!!!

Like yours, it's a holes case, circa 1989, which I acquired new in 1991 when I finished by law degree.  This is my favorite watch and I wear it more than all of the others combined.  I NEVER travel by air or sea without it (superstitious) and I use the dual time zone function to track the local time of my clients around the world as our matters are pending, or the time back home when I am traveling. 

Over the years, before this was a "vintage" watch, I always kept it serviced to "as new" condition by RSC.  Hence, when the indices yellowed, the original tritium dial was replaced with a service dial, and the hands too.  And the insert has been replaced.  (At least the polishing has been light).  But, I appreciate this watch because it has been my constant companion for nearly 25 years all over the world, and not because it has the vintage details we go crazy over as collectors.

. . . and only Rolex, long since departed, but managed to find one of the exact same model . . . 

Mine was the Milgauss. My last(est), the stainless Daytona.

detail is very nice, plus I get to view the beautiful movements at the case back.
