I just like to share some shots of the new White Gold GMT-Master II with “Pepsi” bezel.

This was the first time I saw this one in real.

I was very excited when I heard that Rolex would make a blue/red bezel to the GMT II, but when I found out that it was only for the White gold case I was less excited due to the hefty price tag that comes with the WG case/bracelet…

To me the colors are a bit too “pastel” and not as bright as I would have expected.

The colors become a bit brighter with the flash, but still not really “Pepsi” to my eyes…

What do you think? OK? Good? Great? Could be done better…?

Is there any technical issues to make the colors brighter when it comes to Cerachrom?

I find it is ok, even if I still have to see it in the real.

I would have loved to see it on a steel version. I would have got it!

Like you, paying so much because it is in white gold is a no go, for me.

For this price I could get this bloody Duometre, instead!

If there are technical issues to make blue/red?

If we look at the black/blue, the blue is also less bright in colors....

as it's a very casual looking watch. Just like an explorer and submariner. And the chosen metal has more or less the same colour as steel. So one could ask themselves: where is the differentiation? 

As for your point - yes, I should try to have a more open mind and look at the watch for what it is without comparing it to the vintage...

Problem is that I like the vintage better due to the colors...

did not realize I was yada yada yada-ing so much...

.... like the new seadweller. It would have been much nicer, also works better with the matte colors of the bezel.... AND it would have been a little different from the steel version.

Yes, I think you have a good point here, matt dial would probably made this one look better!

.. There is no comparative effect ( " toning down") in color:
both, the black and the dark blue absolutely stand out, and with some
light reflection even more so; in fact sometimes, the intense blue almost turns into black..

Maybe it has to do with the cerachrome technology, but AFAIK,
that is a multi-step process, with a special hard and resistant effect to end up with.
( Maybe our friend & moderator Baron knows more about it ? )

But overall, I still like a lot what I see;

- Thus I'm happy with my 1675, 16710, ( red/blue- pepsi & black/red)
(and my latest modern Rolex aquisition, last January, the 116710 BLNR blue/black ,)
whereby the blue is more " celestial", intense & yes, somewhat of a lighter blue..

- But again, this could be being deceived by the play of light..

Just my humble 0,02 cents..

...naturally, but white gold is much warmer looking than stainless steel, especially on the PCLs. I think the combination is beautiful.

I like the watch a lot. Maybe because I don't want Rolex to make a perfect replica of the old 1675. That would be silly. I like the shade of blue on this WG GMT but I'm disappointment with the price and it's weight.

I try out the watch a couple times. It feel lighter than it should. I try on a WG Daytona and a WG Submariner before and the weight was substantial. This WG GMT feel like half the weight as if the bracelet is make out of steel.

Finally the price is just .... .... I don't even know what word to use.

In general I like the watch beside the two point I mention. The darker shade of blue give the watch a certain coolness. I would imagine a brighter shade would look comical given the size of the bezel and it's reflectiveness.

I hope Rolex do a PP and lower their price then maybe but it's a big maybe

... like some other people i was disapointed in the colours , they looked a bit faded IMO, the red is not bright and the blue has a greyish tone, for that kind of money it would be a no go for me, helas ....

So many hitting an even number here!

That is the case for many newer model Rolex watches.

Balance is what sometimes is not there.

Brightness of a metal bonded ceramic is the classic issue in dentistry when it comes to natural looking teeth.

As this bezel is bonded to metal ( I believe ) it can't be bright in colour.

The trick could be an all ceramic bezel from a certain ceramic that would not need the metal bezel as a tray.

If Rolex is reading this: I have gaps in my diary for consultation .
