Weekend Heuer. Part 5/? - A little more modern
Let's skip (I will return to that) the old chronographs and jump to more modern ones:
Autavia 2446C GMT "First Execution", I believe. Manual wind, of course.
I need to check but, according to OnTheDash, this case is "a compressor case" and the watch is from 1969.
The Autavia, from AUTo and AVIAtion, line started in 1933 (dashboard timers) and ended in 1986. Later Tag Heuer issued an re-edition in 2003.
From 1962 to 1986 Heuer issued many Autavia variations. On the following weeks we should see some.

Heuer was a great brand ...
But also very hard to understand since there is, as far I know, no book about Heuer's history.
I like the relation Heuer x car racing during the 60's and Heuer was one of the companies behind one of the first automatic chronograph with Hamilton, Buren and Breitling. Of course, working on other calibers, Zenith and Seiko also claim this glory.
Wait for more weeks. I have some interesting pieces to share.

I was lucky to see this one in the flesh many times.
As some friends oof mine have one.
And yes, this is a lovely watch, without doubt.
The GMT Beel gives life to this very viril chrongraph.
The lugs make me thing about some Type XX and the JLC Shark.
Are you really sure it is a super compressor case?

From OnTheDash, I got: "Heuer made two executions of its Autavia Reference 2446C (compressor) snap-back case and although these cases may — at a glance — appear to be identical, upon closer inspection we see that they are very different in their construction. The differences between seemingly similar watches become even more numerous when the Autavia 2446C case houses the Autavia GMT chronograph, as Heuer used multiple varieties of dials and hands on the GMTs.".
I go to try to have access again to this one and, if I got, I will take a pic of the insides and ... Let's see.
