Pair watches - Hublot Zebra or Pave?
Although Zebra and Pave are not the only Hublot that could be used by a pair, I just happened to have an opportunity to handle and review those.... In short:
yes! it would be a great idea to buy two for you and your partner, but I
prefer... please read on.
I just found out the fact that many couples buy Hublot's same model in different colors. That sounds great - must mean that (1) the economy is really recovering, and (2) there are many happy couples out there (count me out here :-()
Let's see Zebra first:
White Zebra Bang - 341.HW.7517.VR.1975, LE of 240
When I first saw this a while back, I was, honestly, shocked! What the xxxx is this? But seeing it in person, it is quite interesting, especially if you wear the same one with someone else.
Legibility is almost zero - don't expect it from this model. Key word here is "playful".
Hour marker is the small stones (8 diamonds for 0.14ct). On the bezel, set with 48 baguette-cut black spinels and uncolored topaz.
You may think that the dial is "hairy" also, but it is actually well-made print.
Now, this is really hairy. Calf skin with hair on it, died like zebra. Wrist side is white rubber.
Bezel base is 18K WG.
Case is, as is often the case, hair-lined and polished white ceramic.
Wrist shot. 41mm - maybe "lady's size" for Hublot, but actually not bad for a guy like me.
Well, I firmly believe this white version is for ladies...
Now, the black version:
Black Zebra Bang: 341.CV.7517.VR.1975, LE of 250
This looks more like "men's"
As with white, the case is hair-lined and polished ceramic.
This strap is really well made.
I am much more comfortable with this color.
The setting of the stones has improved very much - the top of the stone is almost flat.
Next up:
Steel White Pave: 361.SE.2010.RW.1704
38mm steel case.
On the bezel - 126 diamonds for 0.87cts
Pave - 194 diamonds for 0.82cts
Titanium H screws.
A bit blingy to my taste, but in white, it is pretty.
Definitely feminine....
Now the black version
Steel Pave: 361.SX.1270.RX.1704
Looks a bit "spartan" or is it just me?
Not bad
Strap is rubber.
Okay, folks, or couples out there. Which one would you pick?
My choice would be Zebra! Surely the legibility is miserable, but wearing on weekends as a pair, you would definitely have fun together.

Ken, you don't have to like everything that Hublot makes. These ones, whether for men, or women, are way past fun into distasteful in my opinion. Not sure they belong in the LVMH portfolio. And couple watches, or couple T-shirts are really and Asian thing. Whilst I do suspect that those couples that wear paired items might well be happier and having fun, I will refrain.

My regret was not to have got the original Hublot on rubber strap, now called the Classique. It was relatively unknown then (2000); only used by European royalty and their jet-set friends in Gstaad and St Moritz.
The main problem was that the then and current Mrs MTF shares watches with me. The original Hublot rubber strap had to be cut to fit the owner: no sharing allowed. Of course, the lateral thinking of buying two watches did not occur to me then.
Of the choice shown today, I choose the Black Zebra. Mrs MTF does not like white ceramic-like watches.
Maybe it is mid-life crisis or something but my original aversion to bling seems to have abated. Such playful watches are gaining traction in my Desire-O-Meter!!!
If you are going to Go Hublot.....you have to Go Max.

I fortunately have rubbber clasique Super B with today's Hublot buckle. Some Super B has such a strap you just described. Maybe it was a transition model.... but I am glad I caught it in time.
Yeah, I hear you about getting older and blingy thing.... I now have little problem with wearing bling bling.....
This buckle is really a brilliant function - the same was used for some of the Blancpain models when Mr. JCB was still at the helm.
