Six months with the SBGX097
It may not be the most flamboyant, or the most well known but it has been my first Grand Seiko - namely a relatively bog standard quartz SBGX097. Still, it came with the impressive 9F movement and was equipped with a lovely green dial - another first for me.
In the last six months it has been an unobtrusive but dependable companion. Never one to scream for attention, incites no envy, slips under the shirt easily with its 38mm case and slim profile. And keeps time like an atom clock - I can safely use it to set other watches, since it has never been off for more than half a second so far - which for half a year is downright impressive
After it got the new strap it was even nicer - thanks going to Ken What makes this forum such a great place to be!

Very very nice - the green is certainly subtle and mysterious
I really enjoy the chameleon nature of GS dials - they keep you checking back to see what look they'll reveal next. Noticing the time is often an incidental side benefit ...
My collection really needs a green or blue dial, don't you think?

The green is elusive when you try to make pictures - often the dial looks completely black. But what an intense, deep green it is
I certainly applaud Seiko for adding more coloured dials and would like to add a blue at some point, too The green I can certainly recommend! The new green SBGC is lovely but sadly quite chunky. That's why I went with the enamel dial Presage instead

Wrong! Take of the bezel and crystal, and the dial is actually extremely textured. But visible only in certain angles.
This one of course, with the gradient dial from light to dark going outwards, plus texture.
Not exactly a "Grand" Seiko, but priced like one, this is the commemorative edition Astron, before the name was given to the GPS self-adjusting line. It's high accuracy quartz in a ti-ceramic case, with the ink-black glossy dial to match the ceramic case and bezel.
And finally the Credor Chronometer from decades ago, in white gold and black dial

Especially curious about the Quartz Astron - a tribute to the first Quartz watch from Seiko (also an Astron IIRC). Seen one offered for sale recently but not fast enough...
What has your experience with it been? Also a 9F movement or something else?

The Astron is very cool
I went up to LA a few years ago on Feb 29 for PuristS perpetual change day, and walked into the Seiko dealer, where I saw it in the case.
Lots of fun strap choices with the watch, too.
As you would expect, it keeps virtually perfect time - it's a cherry-picked 9F movement rated at 10 sec/year.
It's worth hunting for!

Titanium, right? If there is to be more Quartz, it's most likely going to be something from Seiko

Some of your dials are just excellent! Seiko's design and understanding of horology really shows through on the Grand Seiko models. I often tell people if they want a great watch at a very affordable price, Grand Seiko!

Subsequently got myself a SBGH035 fast beat automatic, with a 'Special', more precise movement. Another excellent watch IMHO
The finishing is exquisite and you never tire of looking at it, and always find new things to admire! Can only recommend Grand Seikos!

Seiko looks very determined to become a mighty contender, if not already is, this time not by quartz ...
but by Quality. The new 2016 collection looks fantastic.

As it is a Quartz, it has a solid case back
So sadly no movement shots. The back simply has the GS lion. I'll look for a picture tomorrow
Do not have a Spring Drive yet but both the Quartz and High Beat automatic watches are fantastic. If one equates Seiko with relatively cheap watches for the masses - which is doing GS a grave injustice - the price may appear shocking but in terms of value, they deliver spectacularly.

I couldn't tell if the dial was green and was wondering if you were talking about another piece, not the one in the photo. LOL
Even though I've put Grand Seikos on the side for other brands, I've always loved them. My one and only that I had, the GMT SBGM003, I gave to my son. Moving from a mechanic at Lexus to being promoted to Service Writer, he and I were talking about his new job, He couldn't wear a watch being a mechanic but his new position ~ now he could. I brought out some of pieces as we talked about watches and then I said, "Here, you may have this," and so I gave him my GMT. (I could feel a tear welling in my eye) He couldn't believe it. I really liked that GMT, its cream colored dial, the finishing and the attention to detail. Grand Seikos are so unassuming and under appreciated.
Some may call the design too cold. I call it, a watch that rivals higher end bands.

You bring out a great connection - feel GS and Lexus go really well together! We've had 4 Lexii as a family so far and they were the most reliable, relaxing, unassuming, comfortable, an for the GSs also very fun to drive cars. And about equally rare in Europe as GSs
Only after switching to European car brands do you notice the many tiny really well thought through Lexus details that you suddenly miss (sadly my employer would get a fit if I tried ordering a company Lexus).
And in most places the service experience is second to none, too.
But back to GS, the dial really is green, if you catch the light correctly And they are in many ways watches that get under your skin (at least in my case)

Yes, Lexus here in Hawaii is second to none.
I got a great discount through my son in picking up a Lexus. My brother works for Infiniti but he could not match anything Lexus was offering.
And for my GMT, I'm glad it is still (hopefully will always be) in the family. I picked it up from Japan several years ago. At that time, I don't think there were any GS dealers, let alone authorized dealers, in the US. Now, there are many, thirteen, I believe. It is easy for GSs to get under my skin. It is a great watch. I always recommend to friends on a limited budget to get a GS. One friend is looking at the Snowflake Spring Drive.
