I'm at novice level. My first decent watch was a Movado from my wife as a wedding gift almost 30 years ago. I also have an Accutron I got as a 20th anniversary gift.

This will be a great place to share with other collectors.

She's getting this for Mother's Day, though she doesn't know it.

Congratulations on the SBGA127. That's one of my favorite pieces with the blue dial and titanium case & bracelet. Although I don't have the SBGA127, my wife has an STGF077 too! She really likes that watch and we both enjoy the high quality, comfort, and understated elegance of the thermo-compensated quartz pieces from Grand Seiko.

I'm hoping she'll like it. I'm a little nervous it might be too dressy for everyday use with the diamond-point hour markers...

If it's too much for her, you'll just have to find a simpler GS for her!

Like most Grand Seiko's, the STGF077 is subtle and classy. The diamond marks are very discreet, much more so than the diamond bezel on other models.

Having a Spring Drive, or even better a 9F at hand, is for any 'normal' watch sufficiently accurate for time setting... So no need to grab the smart phone/ getting into the internet.

. . . from a long-term fan of the manufacturer.  Simplicity is a virtue, and Seiko has it in spades. 

Wearing Dad's hand-me-down the last few days, a '65 Sea Lion.  Not running well at the moment; one final visit to my watchmaker on tap.

If it's going to take heroic measures to restore, I may just put it to rest permanently.  That will be a sad day.

Did you prompt her?
Was it the striking blue dial color?
Do you have friends with GSS?
