What is the significance of the second hand tip design (red dot + white oval)?

The "stoplight" seconds hand is strictly historical as the original 6105-8110 had it.
My 6105 shown below has the "stoplight" hand (the red has faded to a light pink).
With boaters we always tell people don't put yourself between the boat and the dock. we don't need hero s. Boats can be repaired not broken limbs.
The idea is never put your limbs outside the boat. We have plastic bumpers called fenders no need to be a hero.
The Seiko 6015 is a classic. Even modern ones
