This sense of timelessness we associate with Asian cultures… My fantasy is that most Swiss watch manufactures may achieve something quite similar. In fact, this is one of the things that attracted me to mechanical watches in the first place: precision takes time; some things can't be rushed, even as our Western society revolves at an ever faster rate.
And further, that this rate is lauded and encouraged—is now a grail, of sorts... How many times faster the next chip, how many more circuits? Brain-inspiried "memristor" (functionally analogous to the operation of neurons) computing seems to be just around the corner. This quest for more-and -aster seems endless, indeed.
Then there is this video. Then there is quiet. Then there is the sunrise on Mt. Iwate. Nothing gets faster. (Oh, perhaps a tad more efficient.) Considered from this perspective, sending one's GS in for service is somewhat akin to a religious experience! Thank you, Mike! FH
