A classic 5646 with day and date.
Looked very crisp in todays light (bright but bitterly cold).
I am optimistic given existing travel plans that 2023 will be a year to see several more vintage GS added to the existing lineup. Fingers crossed.
These old GS are beauties for sure, in my eyes at least.
And this picture does not do it justice, the flat image is missing the best part (the case).

A while back I bought a few straps to move these old GS off the classic “you can have any colour so long as it’s black” ! They do look great on the original straps, but a pop of colour makes them shine too.

Bought my first vintage GS this month. Was blown away by the quality, especially for around 1500 bucks. Bought 3 more. Can’t wait for them to arrive!
And ur right, everyone thinks of dials when they think GS. But for vintage GS it is all about the case, and for that photos truly don’t do it justice.

I’m a big fan of the 61GS, and have several from the late 60s/early 70s. Also have a couple variations of the 56GS like I posted above. Continually on the lookout, but have always preferred to buy in person and just “find” them. So the last few years that’s been difficult with travel restrictions.

61GS
I have two 61GS on the way, one a cross hair dial 6145-8000 but the other the more oddball 6146-8050. It shouldn’t be my kind of watch at all but the whole combination seems kinda retro cool and an example with a decent dial came up so I just took it. I’m interested to see what it’s like once it’s in the hand. It didn’t hurt it’s basically a VFA style watch with a different movement which makes it interesting in and of itself.
Love the faceted crystal too.
I have a few 61GS with the faceted crystal; the vertical facets (if that’s the right way to describe them) are best I think. There are several with both vertical and horizontal and I’m not sure it works as well.

Think you might be right - I’ve never seen the 9 facet or pyramid in flesh (heck I haven’t seen the 3 facet yet either) and assumed the more facets the better but it’s probably nicer to have the more subtle look. Or maybe it’s just cause I just came across a bunch of Seikos with a lot of facets on their crystal and it devalued the rarity haha
