My son graduates college in May, and his mom and
I are giving him some cash, but that will be spent. We're
getting him one of these to mark the milestone. It's a
great piece! Did you see Teddy Baldesarre's video
about this? It's titled "Arguably the most value packed
Grand Seiko on the market" Yes, yours is the double
signed early edition which is very charming.
We got him the current one, but still a beautiful piece.

You are partially right. And I was wrong with the reference number.
SBGM003 is the first version released in 2004 with solid case back and 50 hr reserve movement. Mine is the next version the SBGM021 which looks identical from front as the 003 but has a display back, 72 hr reserve movement and better finishing. The 021 was then replaced by the 221 with a different dial display. Thanks for pointing this out!
