Believe me, I've made a long research to find those answers, both on the internet and on my hdd, where I use to save the best articles I find on PuristSPro. It was a perfect opportunity to increase my appreciation for Piaget, and I've also learnt how creative they are as a jewelry-maker. Please, keep going on like this, Piaget!

Now, I would like that Melvyn could disclose the mistery around the watch held by the man who had a Polo on his wrist. What is it???

And I also would like to know more about the watch I've identified as a "Piaget Tank": it should be a reference 908 B11, with white gold case and manual winding movement? I'm curious about it.

The non-Piaget watch is shrouded in mystery and in the mists of time from 2008.
It belonged to a PuristS visitor to Piaget manufacture.

We need to ask about the rectangular watch because it exhibits different design cues from a number of past Piaget cases. In those days, Piaget just described the watch and not by name.

There was a rectangular watch (9P movement) with roman numerals, a railway minute track and a carbochon-set large crown (circa 1962) that collectors call Piaget 'Tank' but obviously Piaget would not, despite being managed by Cartier for a short time before the Richemont Group bought Cartier/Piaget/Baume & Mercier as a package in 1988. Some of those watches had hobnail pattern (Clous de Paris) on the bezel that this one does not.

It does not have curved corners like the rectangle l'ancienne nor the concave sides of the Emperador.

There is a slight curve to this watch for comfort with a crown that is small enough to be obscured and may be partially inset in the case.  Such a watch was introduced circa 1957 with 9P movement.

I don't think we will get further on this as it could also be a "personal project" wink
