This is one of the largest Cartier boutiques in the region and cost several million dollars to outfit. It is an impressive space, made even more so by the in-house toilet!

That was famously purchased by Pierre Cartier in 1917 for a pearl necklace worth $1 million and $100 cash (this was before the cultured pearl came along; pearls then were as valuable as diamonds if not more so). The seller was millionaire Morton Plant who was moving uptown as the previously high-end residential midtown area gradually became the commercial area it is today.

...synonymous with luxury, and your photos do the marque justice. Great pictures, Andrew! Thanks for starting this thread. Everyone else who's responded with photos has provided a wonderful snapshot of Cartier storefronts across the globe!

in late 2008, at about midnight, I remember the glass-walled library being crammed with students. Very impressive.

I saw the Cartier store but must have missed the airplane.

Here is the Chicago Boutique on Michigan Ave. Its right next to its sister brand, Van Cleef & Arpels.
