F.P. Journe

... after I just became member of this illustrious club by buying a (used) Calendrier as well as a Zodiaque. When the Zodiaque arrived, I realized that it hadn't run for more than four month. So I had to set the date - what was easy. But then I realized on January 1, that month/signs of the zodiaque and date are out of sync - by two days. Any idea how to correct that? (Included with the box was a letter by F.P. Journe to the former owner, saying that in 2008 it was revised and everything was fine with this watch. So I guess, it has to do with the date adjustment...)
And a second question. The numbers of the date do not always show nicely in the window. Especially the one's "jump" sometimes a little higher than they should. Nothing dramatically, but not a perfect view. Any suggestion on that? (When setting the watch and adjusting the date in a regular, fast winding "flow" this didn't happen.)

Unfortunately, the Zodiaque still suffers on occasion from a misalignment of the zodiaque ring and the date. Mine has had a couple of trips back to Geneva to correct the issue; I'm told it's down to some very small tolerances between the discs and also the tension on the spring. It's easy enough to correct, but it does mean the watch will be away for a few weeks.

As to the date window, I've noticed the opposite, that the alignment may be slightly off when I do a quick adjust, but it tends to correct itself over the course of the day. It generally doesn't happen when the date changes on its own.

In any case, it's a fantastic and very unique piece, wear it in the best of health!

Congrats on the new purchase! Unfortunately you will need to return your watch to Montres Journe SA for an adjustment. The date window is an easy fix however a permanent solution for the alignment problem has proven more elusive. I have recently returned mine for an adjustment. It's ironic that the Zodiaque which seems to be a simple complication continues to have problems. I'm confident (with much patience) that Mr. Journe will find a solution. Despite the alignment issues I continue to enjoy the design of the watch and accuracy of the time. Others think I'm crazy.

... and I'm probably sending the Zodiaque to FPJ. But I wonder, how often it has to be sent there to get it finally fixed. The last service was in 2008 and I guess, at that time the correct setting was done. However, it is a brilliant looking "piece of art" and is indeed extremely accurate. It's my favourite FPJ.

I share your view that its a brilliant piece of art! I love the watch and think it gets more wrist time on me then most other Journes.
