They are both made by Swatch Group! Although I believe they were made by different companies.
But they are rather different in size: 23.3mm (7001) v 36.6mm (6497). Naturally with the Unitas being a pocket watch movement it fit snugly in the Panerai revival cases. Cheers, Baruch

That's exactly why the Peseux is perfect for the watches above.
Unitas is too thick. If one wants to make a large dress watch with an ultra slim movement, one needs to get hold of an F Piguet calibre!! Via Phillips ...

I had a Peseux 7001 in a Nomos back in 2002. And I had a Unitas in a Kobold watch in 2007! Good luck on my part that they were the two movements that came up in discussion! 😂

Nowadays when I buy a watch, it is the dial, case and how it fits my wrist that matters. The movement has become less important as long as it is reliable and reasonably accurate. Also, we see the dial more than any other part of the watch!

An interesting difference is that the white subdial is slightly recessed while the black subdial is not.
Between the two, the black version reminds me more of a Breguet watch…likely because of the recent releases with wonderful black dial this past year. But you are right, it’s hard to choose between them😊.

That is the main diference between the off white dial and the black dial, the recessed seconds counter which helped me decide that I want both )
