You will need to cut off the corners at the buckle end to accommodate the 18mm buckle. Shame to spoil a new strap.

Not sure if i am reading this right -
If strap is 20mm wide, it will be too big for your 18mm wide buckle. So the opposite of needing spacers. You either need to have strap redone to be 18mm and fit your buckle, or use 20mm aftermarket buckle
