I would tend to agree with you as previous Portugieser Chronographs are on a 7750-Based movement, while the newer 3716 as a full in-house movement.

In terms of looks, I have never seen in the flesh the 3716, which makes it hard to judge, but I would say on the paper it is more appealing. The shape/proportions of the 3714 is great, which you might want to favour, the 1mm additional width might be an i
