Spring Drives I have known and loved

After the story of Robin’s new Spring Drive, I am re-engaging with my Spring Drives as I read and see more of them on wrists! His article made me dig around in my photo archives to see “the fleet” and how it has ebbed and flowed. SBGA001 was the first one

Early Spring Drives

The first ever Seiko Spring Drive. I liked the innovative movement and the titanium material. I didn’t like the bracelet and its strap-proof design, so I sold it before realizing it was an historic piece. Comparison shot with two Brightz and my Flig

This GS case design has a name: 9S5

So named because the first watch with this case was the first modern mechanical GS: the SBGR001 of 1998. Inside was the new cal. 9S55. The designer of the case was Nobubiro Kosugi, who relates the process of its creation: article.gs-story.com l &#

I haven’t taken mine apart but I have seen them during assembly

Nothing really different… a few bits & pieces are unique. This is the first automatic GS Spring Drive, SBGA001 - my first in 2003 Assembly guide This is the first Seiko Spring Drive model (mine) from 1999 First Credor Spring Drive model (also mine) Sp

I think perhaps the Evolution 9 is a new generation of cases into which many existing/new movements will go

I have had many Spring Drives and never a problem with any of them

My first in 2005 SBGA001 The very first Spring Drive 1999 production - I owned this but foolishly sold it (small and rattly bracelet) Credor Moon Phase Spring Drive; I have owned this since 2006 A Credor on strap with a slightly newer manual wind movement

Welcome, and thanks for posting your watch

I started on Spring Drives with and SBGA001. A winner in my book, but it eventually went on and my GS addiction grew to include a dozen or so over the past 15 years. Cheers! Cazalea Seiko Moderator

Evolution and revolution of taste may occur to us all

I got entranced by GS dials. This was my first Spring Drive: And this my first manual wind mechanical GS But then I found this one - mechanical, automatic, titanium, fascinating dial - and the manual wind went away and I found this and I knew it wasn't go
