Patek Philippe: I liked the crown guard of the 5127. Regardless, what's up with the price?

I think the crown guard made the 5127 appear less "generic". I'm disappointed to see it go. I'm also disappointed with Patek's pricing... It's going up and up, without justification beyond marketing. $37,300 list price for a simple Calatrava? Are you kidding me? In any sane market it would be worth

Glashütte Original: If you have to ask...

OK, I'm asking... any idea as to ballpark price for this wondrous little bauble?

Patek Philippe: Not

I may be a bit biased. I think the entire Nautilus and Aquanaut lines are horribly dated, but I'm a watch newb, so maybe they will grow on me in time. As to your particular question, I find the dial too busy.

Patek Philippe: PP 5205: General request for advice, and why is it so thick?

Would really love an annual or perpetual calendar as my everyday dress watch. I can only afford to own one really nice watch, so I have to live with my purchase for a long long time. I have relatively small thin wrists, and hate the feel of a larger or bulky watch. Prefer date apertures to sub-dials

Patek Philippe: Thank you

A thoughtful and eloquent answer. I will use this wisdom for my own future watch desires, which annoyingly always seem to be directed towards watches that could theoretically be afforded, but are irresponsibly costly when viewed through the eyes of my family.
