I know and like this post since long - but often, one consumes and forgets to appreciate the work on public, what I do now: thanks, Bill - many hours have been put in such a result... and the writing is even the smaller part.

Rolex: Hello Sam - this is a known variant:

You find it here: As mentioned there, the pics come from the web archive of sheartime - while you find the best close-ups for Rolex Sports watches on Jacek's site HQMilton, sheartime is the largest source for "dial only" shots (and shows also the most reliable "untouched configuration" pieces IMHO)

Harrison from VRF pointed me to the idea that there have been no 3/61 and 4/61 editions.
