Patek Philippe: Definitely a step sideways, not forward.
I feel that this model is following the "trends". And definitely something that Omega would do. Patek needs to consistently set itself apart and not cave into modern day trends.

Patek Philippe: Definitely a great problem to have!
however, it sounds like you may need to commission a custom adapter, that will be able to attach a rubber strap to it, like the nautilus.
