Rolex: When you say... ?

Transitional, what exactly do you mean? I've seen it used many times referring to dials? I'm new to the world of older and vintage rolex and finding out the more I know, the less I know! How many years old does a Rolex, or any watch for that matter have to be to be considered vintage? Thanks! AR

Rolex: NATO's, which are ... ???

Some of the better quality brands you'd recommend? I am looking for a couple for my Sub and my Panerai. I have read that there are some poor quality one's out there that could put the watches at risk, so I appreciate any input. Thanks! AR

What letter serial should a Ref 16800 circa 1985 have? Or letters from 83-86 have? Also I've seen some advertised as having transitional dials for a bit more, but the dials look the same.
