I visited the same places you did. The best thing I did was search "vintage watch" on Google maps and check each shops offerings on their site. Saw many beautiful vintage Patek's (including a stunning 1463, a platinum 570, and a steel 2508) and other watches I would never get to see at home.

Omega: I think I really lost interest in modern Omega after the moonswatch
Having to filter out all the moonswatches in my eBay searches drove me a little nutty.
