Rolex: I opted for the SD
Before I bought my SD (16600), I too, was considering Sub-Date & Sub-NoDate. Frankly, I dislike the cyclop, which disrupts the view of dial. Much prefer the clean look. I then chose the SD (as opposed to Sub-NoDate) due to it been discontinued and harder to get in future.

Horological Meandering: I prefer the U1 Tempus
The U Black is not black at all but whole patch of grey. Hope the production version will have a black dial to match the grey hands.
