G99's exploration of a new Shell Cordovan strap for his Omega Railmaster highlights the transformative power of strap choices in personalizing a watch. His detailed account of the 'crazy back' Cordovan, featuring the Horween stamp, offers a unique perspective on material aesthetics and functionality. This post demonstrates how a well-chosen strap can enhance a watch's character and versatility, making a modern Omega feel even more distinctive.

hi Guy's, this only arrived this morning, but i like it so much i thought i'd let you enjoy it.

i've tried a lot of different straps on my Railmaster from the original croc it came on to polished Stingray described by Art as 'inspired'. however, i've grown very very fond of Shell Cordovan and now have several of them on different watches. i did have the Railmaster on a Shell Cordovan NATO, but then i saw this very funky cordovan amongst my favourite suppliers stock. they call it 'crazy back' and what it is is the underside of the shell cordovan used as the top of the strap so that you get some of the HORWEEN stamp across the strap. i couldnt resist as i know the quality is brilliant and price pretty good. the texture is different to other Cordovan as its more suede like with no polish. it came as a 22/20mm and even though the Railmaster is 21/19mm it is flexible enough to not only fit the lugs, but to fit the original deployment clasp which is a bit of a bonus.

in short, i love it so enjoy the pics.

. . . the "Geneva Seal", then why not the "Horween Seal" for straps? Makes sense to me!

...was that it looked like the cattle brand. High marks for something outside the norm, though

....sounds like this is a split grain cordovan. Will be interested to see how it holds up versus the usual top grain cordovans you've got.

Great choice. Could have gone south but in the end it worked very well.
