MTR shares his initial impressions of the new Rolex Deepsea Cameron Ref. 126660, challenging perceptions about its wearability. After just 140 minutes on the wrist, he highlights the noticeable improvements over its predecessor, the 116660, and praises its comfort and aesthetic appeal on his 16.5 cm wrist.

Ok, the new Rolex Deepsea Cameron (126660) is just two hours and twenty minutes on my wrist. 140 minutes ago I was able to pick it up from my AD.

The improvements made in comparison to it’s predecessor 116660 are clearly noticeable and sensible (the lugs, bracelet, hands etc). The watch sits perfectly on my 16,5 cm wrist and feels very comfortably.

Couldn’t be happier. A true and even beautiful (chic) tool watch!

Enclosed my first “quick and dirty” shots.

All the best, Thomas

About the Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea Ref. 116660

The Deepsea reference 116660 represents a significant evolution in Rolex's professional dive watch offerings, positioned above the Submariner and Sea-Dweller in terms of water resistance and case dimensions. Introduced in 2008, this model was engineered for extreme underwater exploration, featuring a robust case construction designed to withstand immense pressure. It established the Deepsea as a distinct and highly capable instrument within the brand's catalog, catering to serious divers and enthusiasts of substantial timepieces.

This reference features a 44 mm Oyster case crafted from 904L stainless steel, with a notable thickness of 17.7 mm. It is equipped with Rolex's patented Ringlock System, which incorporates a nitrogen-alloyed stainless steel compression ring, a 5.5 mm thick domed sapphire crystal, and a titanium case back. Powering the watch is the automatic Caliber 3135, a COSC-certified chronometer movement known for its reliability and precision, offering a power reserve of approximately 48 hours.

The 116660 appeals to collectors who value technical prowess and a commanding wrist presence. Its substantial proportions and advanced engineering distinguish it from other dive watches, making it a statement piece. The model was produced with a black dial and a unidirectional rotating ceramic bezel. This reference laid the groundwork for subsequent Deepsea iterations, including the D-Blue dial variant, and remains a key reference for understanding the development of Rolex's ultra-deep diving watches.

Beautiful photos. I have generation 1 of this piece, it's my daily wearer. It's my favorite kind of Rolex - the faithful hound that goes everywhere with you. There's something very confidence inspiring about having a watch that you know can handle way more than you will ever ask of it. Wear it in great health!

Looks great on you, congratulations 🍾 I have this Big Corum 44 Split Sec Chrono. It feels like a handcuff and leave an imprint of the Cup on my wrist so no more of the heavy weights for me.

You should try to find and test the 126660 asap. I know you are „torn“ (is this the right word?) between the new Deepsea and the SD Anniversary. I have tried both and - for me - it was a clear decision. I am very curious how you would decide. Best, Thomas

The Ringlock case construction combines a 5.5-mm-thick sapphire crystal, a nitrogen-alloyed stainless steel ring positioned in the case middle and a steel and grade-5 titanium caseback. In addition to that you get a screw-down Triplock winding crown and a helium-release valve. Best, Thomas

And it‘s not only you... And I am happy that it’s not me. ☺️ Best, Thomas
