A. Lange & Söhne

Extremely sad to read this , Nicolas

I think you mentioned in another post that some watches were stolen, but I wasn't aware of the extent of robbery. On top of this , the experience of your watch showing up on an auction and the very disappointing behaviour of Antiquorum. At least they could have held the watch for the police to investigate the case.

Actually I have positive experience dealing with AQ, I used to go and enjoy their watch presentations before the auctions during the years I had been living in Shanghai and their watch experts were very helpful. I bought and sold a few watches through them, but that's all a few years back and I understand they had lots of changes in the management since then.

I your case, I believe the many comments are right I saying we as a community should build up some pressure to AQ by posting and reposting your experience and request that minimal standards are upheld by the auction houses with regard to stolen watches. As PuristS, we could write personal but identical letters to the AQ management requesting to implement such standards, citing your case.

I am not sure this is going to help to get your Lange back, but it is worth a try.

Btw, my first Reverso Duo was stolen and when it was in custody with our office in the US after taking delivery from an US seller. I was s bad experience , but nowhere as bad as yours. Since I did not yet take personal possession of the watch, the pain of loosing it was much less. And luckily I should be able to get the money back from our insurance.

Still I should also post the watch as stolen by showing photos and the serial number. It probably won't help but still it had to be done.

Kind regards

Stefan
