A. Lange & Söhne

I feel similarly.

Lange introduced the Luna Mundi set in 2003, coincident with the launch of the first-generation Grand Lange 1 models (3 watches -- PT with rhodium dial, RG with two-tone dial, and YG with two-tone dial). I strongly dislike the overlapping dial elements on all these early 41.9mm Lange 1 models. I think they disrupt and detract from the classic Lange 1 design. The placement of the date window especially bothers me. Five years later, in 2008, Lange changed the design of the Grand Lange 1 dial to mimic the standard 38.5mm Lange 1 design. I thought that was a sensible move.

All that being said, the Luna Mundi set and those other 3 Gen1 Grand Lange 1 models look a lot better in person. A few weeks ago, I visited a preowned dealer and looked at the YG/two-tone dial Grand Lange 1 with the overlapping subdials (115.021). We were looking at it together and both concluded, "You know, it's actually not that bad"!
