Three brothers up and down.... ... here in Tokyo, the very first new 1815 U/D was just delivered to a good friend of mine. Lange fanatic would need no introduction.... from left to right: 1815 U/D Walter Lange LE (WG), NEW 1815 U/D (WG), ORIGINAL 1815 U/D...  

The 1815 up and down seems to be the first novelty with the Saxonia Set Bezel which is knocking at the ADs' doors. It is a watch I appreciate a lot. Thanks for the pics and of course, congrats to the newcomer to the Lange family! Fx

And hat's off to you Ken for managing to showcase the subtle differences in the dial contrasts. I prefer the new version personally. The size is perfect, changes to the movement, stop seconds when fully unwound and sober appearance make for a winning comb... 

Thanks for showing us these, Ken, but especially for the video at the end. I had no idea that the watch did this at the end of the PR, but I am not a Lange-o-phile..yet. That is a beautiful technical detail of the performance. Best, respo

I personally think, just like the 911's evolution, this new model, which does not differ much, is the nicest. I think for me it is the touch of red on the 72hr power reserve that steals the show. Dean

The U/D is such a understated piece, and a pleasure to own. And it's one of those design that could be "scaled" in size, so in a increasing watch case girth environment, it will still be classically beautiful, and won't look out of place. Thanks for shari...

The dial gives nothing but useful (useful every day to the user) information. And it is clean and well laid out. All 3 lovely, really hard to pick a favorite for me to be honest!

Whichever version, this is a "must have" practical yet definitely "Lange"! Ken

... a photo I took years ago that compared the silver dials of the old PT 1815 (206.025), PT 1815 Automatik (303.025), and PT 1815 Up/Down (221.025). Your post motivated me to look for that photo of those 3 old 1815 platinum models, but I suppose it's gon... 

.. and I am looking for it, too! Yes, that mechanism was only for those super high-end models such as PLMs, and now it is on this nearly entry-level model - that is something VERY special and impressive implementation by Lange, and I want people to recogn...
